What We Think
The Pestana Tropico is located on a small cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and has a reputation for being a very comfortable with a restaurant renowned as one of the best on the island.
The hotel is set in a residential area of Praia, the Cape Verdean capital city and the largest in the archipelago. You’re close to the heart of the old city here, with its colourful colonial architecture and also close to the city’s famous dark sand Prainha beach - popular with the locals for both relaxing and playing football. It’s a hotel perfect for unwinding and for exploring all this fine city has to offer.
The rooms are well presented and decorated in a contemporary style, and the hotel has good facilities, including a large pool and terrace area set in the hotel’s garden. The ‘Ilheu’ circular bar that overlooks both the pool and the ocean is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink following a relaxing day of sunbathing or after a busy day exploring the attractions of Santiago. To top it all off, the excellent restaurant 'Alex’ serves Cape Verdean and Portuguese specialities as well as international dishes.
Our opinion: A well designed hotel that meets international standards of facilities and service. More suited to couples or groups rather than families.
