Cape Verde Diving

The Cape Verde Islands are a diver's paradise with wrecks to explore, rich tropical underwater flora and a massive array of fish including shoals of rockfish and bream, dolphins, turtles and sharks.

Cat sharks are frequently seen and with some luck you can also observe tiger sharks, lemon sharks, hammer-head sharks and mako sharks.

We are pleased to offer diving with Cabo Verde Diving based at the Hotel Djadsal in Santa Maria, Sal. Dives, courses and equipment hire can be arranged by your resort representatives or prior to your holiday.

Cabo Verde Diving

Cabo Verde Diving was established in 2001 and is open to beginners and experienced divers. The ocean surrounding Cape Verde allows you to dive all the year around, however, depending on weather conditions you are taken to a variety of sites that provide natural shelter.

The friendly and qualified staff are on hand to help whatever your diving requirements. They can qualify divers up to assistant instructor level and have extensive experience of working with beginners.

If you have never dived and you want to see what it is like under water...

Don't worry, your Instructor will take care of you, allowing you to discover the submerged wonders with confidence. This can be experienced in one day without the need of a license.

If you want to become a diver...

You can take the PADI Scuba Diver International Certification in just two days – and these need not necessarily be consecutive days. On these two days you’ll need two hours in the morning and two in the afternoon in order to learn the basic techniques and you will become a certified diver and you will obtain a recognised license, valid all over the world.

If it has been a long time since your last dive and you would like to refresh your skills then a quick update can be arranged before you go diving.

Diving Courses

Cabo Verde Diving can organize PADI courses in English and other European languages:-

PADI DISCOVER SCUBA DIVING

An Open Water introduction for people without a license (approximately 4 hours).

PADI SCUBA DIVER

1st level certification which qualifies divers to a maximum depth of 12 metres (approximately 2 days).

PADI OPEN WATER DIVER

2nd level certification which qualifies divers to a maximum depth of 18 metres (approximately 3 days).

PADI ADVANCED OPEN WATER DIVER

Advanced certification which qualifies divers to a maximum depth of 30 metres (5 dives are required in a minimum of 3 days).

PADI RESCUE DIVER

A rescue course (approximately 4 days).

PADI DIVEMASTER

An underwater guide (approximately 4 weeks).

Dives in Cape Verde - Sal

Cabo Verde Diving offers dives every day in the morning and afternoon. Night dives and dive packages (6 or more dives) can also be arranged. Some dives available with Cabo Verde Diving include:-

Choclassa

Approximately 4km from the island of Sal; the depth ranges from 300 metres up to 14 metres. A variety of dives may be performed in the depth range allowing you to see moray, tuna fish, marlin, pelagic fish, turtles, lobsters, stingray, various mantas, sharks and whale sharks.

Cavala

A fantastic wall dive that starts from 28 metres and descends until 65 metres, every kind of pelagic fish are common here.

3 Caves (Tres Grotes)

A very easy dive; maximum depth 18 metres, with a wall and three splendid penetrable caves from which emerge lobsters, slipper lobster, turtles and every kind of tropical fish.

Buracona - Regona

A very unique volcanic cove; Buracona was created as a siphon on the land, with an incredible tranquil atmosphere and spectacular displays of light; this is one of Sal's most interesting dives.

Regona consists of a labyrinth of caverns of various widths, with connections to horse shoe shaped tunnels that emerge into open sea. Nurse shark and crustaceans are often in the caverns.
