Full Day Island Tour

The first stop on this tour is São Domingos, known mainly for its traditional handicraft centre, then on to São Jorge dos Órgãos (400 metres), where you walk though the National Botanical Garden and look at some endemic species of the archipelago. From here you can also see the highest point of the island, Pico de Antónia at 1394m. Continuing on towards Assomada (previously known as Santa Catarina), the second biggest city of Santiago, where we find the Tabanka Museu and a lively street market held on Wednesdays and Saturdays. The next stop is at the ex political prison and the Museu Renascença of Tarrafal.   There is time before lunch for a short walk through the small village of Tarrafal and the beach. After lunch at Tarrafal you will travel along the coast back to Praia with stops at Porto Formoso, Calheta de São Miguel and Pedra Badejo on the way.  There is also time for a photographic stop at the Valley of 1000 Palms in Santa Cruz.

Lunch includes a starter, main dish, desert, coffee or tea (seafood options and drinks are not included).

Price guide: £63 per person, based on 2-3 people.  £39 per person, based on 4 people.

 

Half Day Island Tour

This excursion starts with a short half an hour journey to Cidade Velha (once known as Ribeira Grande) the first capital of Cape Verde. Here we walk through the village, visiting the fortress of São Filipe, the Pelourinho, the Sé Catedral, the Church of Nossa Senhora do Rosário and the convent of São Francisco. Afterwards you will travel towards Plateau to have a look at its main attractions such as the Praça Alexandre de Albuquerque, surrounded by old buildings, exemplifying the old colonial architecture style, the Palácio da Justiça, the church of Nossa Senhora from 1900, the Municipality, the Culture Palace Ildo Lobo, the market and the miradouro.

Price guide: £31 per person, based on 2-3 people.  £20 per person, based on 4 people.
